California's Clean Truck Check Program
The CARB Clean Truck Check (CTC) is a mandatory emissions inspection program for heavy-duty diesel trucks operating in California. Trucks must pass a smog inspection to remain registered and on the road. Failure to comply can result in fines, registration holds, and being pulled off the road.

All diesel trucks with a GVWR over 14,000 lbs operating in California — including owner-operators, fleets, and out-of-state trucks that enter CA regularly.

Consequences of Failing
